Machine Operator

B-hive are looking for an experienced Machine Operator to join their Project team in York. Full training will be given to the right person on the machinery as they are bespoke to the company. You will be working on a new process alongside experts from the University of York and Biorenewables Development Centre. This project is being supported by Innovate UK.

This is a great opportunity for an individual with a background in machine operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of the pilot plant.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating the line according to the project plan
  • Full clean down of all equipment after each run
  • Ordering raw materials on a weekly basis
  • Collection, labelling and arranging delivery of samples
  • Compliance of all operating procedures in line with health and safety requirements
  • Immediate notification of all plant issues to the relevent person


  • Evidence of a background in Machine Operation
  • The ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • High levels of work ethic
  • The abilty to work independently and as a team
  • Full driving license
  • FLT counterbalance license (highly desirable)
  • Good organisational skills, ensuring deadlines and expectations are met
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and coordination skills
  • Evidence of maintaining high standards of health and safety
  • Experience of membranes would be advantageous
