B-hive are looking for a forward-thinking Software Team Leader based at the Science and Innovation Park in Lincoln to join their team. You will be managing a small team of software developers working across the project portfolio. You will plan, design and build applications from proof of concepts to alpha products in modern frontend and backend technologies. You will be accountable for design and implementation as well as documentation of the deliverables up to our quality standards.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced software developer looking for their first step into management or an established manager. The successful candidate will contribute to and be required to take responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of the software team and deliver work packages within the scope of the projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, mentor and coach small software team
  • Build exciting and high-quality agricultural applications
  • Build shippable software following Engineering standards
  • Develop, build and maintain all aspects of the frontend and backend code
  • Ensure the code delivered is on time and is of the required quality
  • Review code of other developers to ensure the overall code quality and to encourage a collaborative development environment
  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and methodologies to ensure B-hive stays ahead of the game
  • Ensure robust and highly scalable approach to development to support our growing number of global users and services
  • Facilitate the link between hardware and software including depth cameras and sensors


  • Educated to degree level in Computer Science or equivalent standard
  • Experience of using Microsoft Windows Embedded, Linux, Python, C++, C# is essential
  • Exposure to vision systems, image processing and machine learning would be desirable
  • Ability to detect, identify and rectify issues within a system
  • Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) and/or SQL database would be advantageous
  • Problem solving and mathematical skills are essential
  • Work to tight deadlines
